We keep your personal information safe, handle it carefully, and only use it to run the housing services you've asked us for. This page explains exactly how.
Placetostay is a Lisbon-based housing services team. We operate across Lisbon and currently do not maintain a public office address. For any privacy question you can reach us at [email protected]. We are the data controller for the information you share with us.
Only the Placetostay team, the property owner of the specific unit you reserve, and service providers we are legally required to share with (accountant, Portuguese tax authority, payment processor). We do not sell, rent or trade your information to anyone.
Enquiry data is kept for up to 24 months. Rental contract data is kept for 10 years as required by Portuguese law. Accounting records are kept for 10 years. You can ask us to delete enquiry data earlier at any time.
Essential: needed for the site and the booking form to work, and to remember your cookie choice.
Analytics: we use Google Analytics and PostHog to understand how the site is used (for example, where people leave the booking form). Form inputs are masked and we do not use this data for advertising.
Advertising measurement (only if you click “Accept all”): when you arrive from one of our ads in ChatGPT, the OpenAI Ads measurement pixel records whether you went on to start or complete a reservation, so we know which ads work. It sets the cookies __oppref and __obref. If you arrive from one of our ads on Facebook or Instagram, the Meta Pixel does the same and sets the cookies _fbp and _fbc. If you choose “Essential only”, neither of them sends anything, and the Meta Pixel is not even loaded.
Under the GDPR and Portuguese law (Lei n.º 58/2019) you can ask us, at any time, to access, correct, export or delete your personal data, or restrict how we use it. Just email [email protected] — we reply within 30 days. If you believe we've mishandled your data you can also complain to the Portuguese data protection authority (CNPD) at cnpd.pt.
We store your data on encrypted drives and our web services run over HTTPS. Access to contracts is restricted to the small Placetostay team.
We may update this page occasionally — for example, when the law changes. The current version is always shown here with the date below.
